Oval Garden, Heywood Estate
Oval Garden, Heywood Estate
In 1906, the then owner of the Heywood Estate commissioned the famous landscape artist Sir Edwin Lutyens to design gardens adjacent to the House. This is the Oval Garden, one of Lutyens' masterpieces. Eight bronze tortoises deliver jets of water through their mouths into the pond. The gardens are now administered by the Office of Public Works and are open to the public.
