Castletown Railway Station from The Quiet Man
Castletown Railway Station from The Quiet Man
Ballyglunin Railway Station in central County Galway is no longer operational. The station can be seen in the 1950s Hollywood movie, "The Quiet Man" starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara. The station served as the fictitious "Castletown" station and today it bears that name from the movie. Several scenes, including the opening shot - Sean Thornton (Wayne) the returning Yank arriving at Castletown railway station - were filmed here.
