Bill of Portland: two lighthouses
The view from the road as it approaches the Bill, the nearer lighthouse is one of a pair of decommissioned towers (the other a good few hundred yards out of picture to the right), which worked in tandem before the new tower, which we see in the background, was built in 1907.
To the left of the lighthouses is the obelisk, on the very tip of the headland, built in 1844 by Trinity House as a warning of a shelf of rock extending out to sea just below the surface.
The old light pictured is now in use as a bird observatory.
