Lake Cruise Vessel entering Lough Corrib
Lake Cruise Vessel entering Lough Corrib
The "Corrib Princess" has just entered lower Lough Corrib from the river Corrib. The craft can hold circa 150 passengers and is a popular tourist attraction. It travels from Galway city northwards up the river Corrib and then through the lower end of the lake. Lough Corrib is the largest lake in the Republic of Ireland and the second largest in Ireland. It is situated almost entirely in County Galway with a small portion in the northeast lying within County Mayo. The lake splits County Galway into two distinct regions, rugged Connemara on the western side and the limestone plains on the eastern side.
