A book is available from the local heritage centre, offering insight to the life in Peterculter during the Great War and the lives of the 68 soldiers named.
Rob Roy's Statue at Culter (pron. Cooter) is probably misnamed going by many reports. Rob Roy is unlikely to have ever been in Aberdeen and Culter's "Rob Roy" could well come from Patrick Gilroy McGregor (Gilderoy) instead. Gilderoy was a local freebooter who used to "lurk" in the Burn o' Vat between Morven and Loch Kinord. He is supposed to have been betrayed by a so called girlfriend, Margaret Cunningham, to the authorities - then hung in Edinburgh in 1658.
