The Shippon Barn
Shippon Barn is a grade II listed building, used in part by the trustees of the BUC who maintain the wellhead park, and in part by the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides of Bourne. This is a grade II listed building, and the listing suggests that the narrow stone window-slits may have been reused from Bourne Castle.
Shippon or shippen is a dialect word for a cow-house, coming from old English "Scipene", meaning "cattle-shed". The word would normally be used alone, so 'Shippon Barn' is nearly tautological.
