Traffic, cars and pedestrians, pass through now that the train has gone by. In Paignton, the railway line has always delineated a division between the entertainments and shops associated with the traditional British seaside holiday, flashy and transient, and the more ordinary town shops, which used to begin with Woolworths next to the level crossing, but it is now a pound shop. The old Picture House stands next to the level crossing, still redolent of a more uncomplicated past age. The footbridge is not a bad place to stand to reflect on the passage of time and the changes that have taken place.
