The Hood Stones
The Hood Stones
A telephoto shot of the Hood Stones, taken from ground level. The stones were laid by crew-members of the ships anchored in Loch Eriboll during the 1920s and 1930s. Reading from left to right are the names HOOD, BULWARK - with SUTHERLAND above it, SWIFT and BLAKE. The names of other ships are also laid, but are too horizontal to see from this level. The names are variably visible using aerial photography websites.
