The noticeboard outside St Brendans Church of Ireland commemorates the world's first automobile fatality on 31st August 1869. The Hon Mrs Ward was thrown from a steam carriage driven by her husband as it rounded a sharp corner.

The notice includes an extract from the Kings County Chronicle "The utmost gloom pervades the town, and on every hand sympathy is expressed with the husband and family of the accomplished and talented lady who has been so prematurely hurried into eternity."
