The house frontage, 57 Leeds Road, has now been incorporated into the shop (that was in Mount Street) and the last garden in this stretch of Leeds Road has disappeared.
The 1955 photograph showed a large 'Tyresoles' hoarding above the shop front; this has now been removed and the false window revealed. This can never have been a real window as a coal fireplace was directly behind the window outline.
Conversely, the 1955 photograph showed the top arch of another false window but this has been rendered over in this current view of 1981.
The street sign affixed above the 'Paper Shop' sign says 'Mount Street, Oatlands Mount'.
Prior to house numbering this Leeds Road house address was Rose Villa, the next with the yellow awning was Charnwood Cottage then lastly Oak House.
The black post at left is the sign for the Milepost pub.
