The street of Cloth Fair, the site of the mediaeval annual fair, runs alongside the church of St Bartholomew the Great, Smithfield. Its buildings and lanes have survived both Great Fire and Blitz, including London's oldest lived-in house. The house, at numbers 41 and 42, was built between 1597 and 1614.
87-89 Saffron Hill was the Head Office of Aircraft-Marine Products, Great Britain (known as AMP). They had factories in Port Glasgow (closed in 1999) and Bideford (later Tyco Electronics) which closed in 2013.
