This is the entrance to the Forest of the Dunbrody. Wood was originally sourced from here to build the Dunbrody tall ship's full sized replica, which can be seen in nearby New Ross. S7127 : Dunbrody Famine Ship (Replica) The woodland here was planted as a legacy of this.

This is now the trail head for a number of local walks.
