Seven men died when their Halifax bomber crashed into Ilkley Moor at 17:30 on 31st January 1944. They were lost in low cloud and trying to find Yeadon airfield (now Leeds-Bradford Airport).

Six of the crew were Canadian and the other, who survived the crash until the next day, was a Scot.

This memorial was erected in 2006.
