Curious harrowing pattern on Duncombe farm
Curious harrowing pattern on Duncombe farm
A tractor was at work in several fields here making this curious pattern. Two concentric runs around the field perimeter, plus parallel lines running off to the right. It reminded me of the conductor pattern on a solar panel. The farming experts on our forum tell me it was probably done to decompact the soil along the tramlines (caused by earlier tractor work on the now harvested crop). The swing to minimal cultivation in recent years may mean that there is no intention to plough the whole field.
