D0000 : Gates with a view

Gates with a view
Gates with a view
These gates are on the Carmagrim Road, about 4km from Portglenone. If proof were needed that you don't need a particularly lofty position to enjoy a great view this spot has an expansive vista over the Bann valley to the Sperrin mountains beyond. In the photo you can just see, in the distance, parts of Loughs Beg and Neagh. I said the view was "expansive" - I should also add "expensive" as long before the current vogue for building large houses in the Northern Irish countryside there have been several substantial properties on this hillside.
