Tribute to a vanished Dundalk brewery
Macardles, Smithwicks and Harp were three famous Dundalk breweries that are no more. Macardles is here commemorated by a metal sign at Clarke Station's Museum. The firm was established as Macardles (a very common Dundalk surname) & More Brewery in 1851. A hundred and ten years later it was absorbed by Guinness and in 2000 the plant was closed.
