Clock Gate, Youghal

View north east from the narrow stairs called Gaol Steps that go up to Ashe Street from the point at which North and South Main Street meet.
This is one of the gates in the old town walls, and is the third gate on this site. It was used as the town gaol until the mid 19th century.
Prisoners were executed by hanging from the windows.
