Fiddle i'th Bag
Fiddle i'th Bag
An unusual name for a pub, which isn't explained by the sign, which shows a violin in a bag. The real explanation is inside, above the bar. The "Fiddle i'th Bag" was a machine for sowing seed that could be carried by a man and was invented in the USA. The bag contained seed that fell onto a rotating disk that was moved by a kind of bow with an action similar to playing a violin.
