Ruined lime kiln at Aber Bach
Every little bay had its lime kiln where limestone would be delivered by sea and burnt in situ. The kiln here is not as obvious as most and is now very hard to identify having sunk into the land. Winter is the best time to find it, when the vegetation around has withered. It's located well above the bay, tucked below the road as it winds up and down the valley bottom. This could have been in order to spare the farmers' carts and horses from the very steep drop down to the shore. In this view from below it just possible to see the opening of the opening of the draw hole below.
