Norman Hall, Pembroke Castle
Norman Hall, Pembroke Castle
The Norman Hall is probably the oldest surviving part of the castle, having been built by Richard Strongbow around 1160. The east windows shown have been reconstructed more recently. When calcium hydroxide leaches out of the mortar and meets the atmosphere, it begins to react to form calcium carbonate stalactites.
