The coast, to the north west of Portmuck harbour, about 25 minutes before low water Larne, as a gentle north easterly carries some white waves towards the shore.

Officially described by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency as comprising “a series of ridges which run north-south, culminating at sheer basalt cliffs along the eastern coastline.” Irrespective of the technical jargon Islandmagee has pleasant scenery.
