Sutherland Lewisian gneiss outcrop
Sutherland Lewisian gneiss outcrop
This is the east end of the rear left 'hump' in NC2043 : Ancient Lewisian gneiss formation in Sutherland The rock is magnetic so that if a compass is held at a distance of about a foot from it on its south side there is no deviation. When the compass is moved towards it, by the time the compass is in contact with the rock, the deviation is approximately 20deg west.
