Rose Castle tower
A mysterious little tower, otherwise referred to on maps as "Church Cottage" -- the word "Rose" is probably a corruption of the Welsh "Rhos", which is the name of a nearby hamlet. Was it something to do with the Picton Castle estate? Was it a watchtower? Was it really a church tower? If so, it's very small. Francis Jones thought it may be as old as 1115-1145 AD -- but the brick arches on the windows are suspicious. But the rest of the tower looks really old. On the other side there are the traces of a roof-line, so there was clearly a building with a pitched roof attached. It does not seem to be listed.
