Church of the Holy Family (RC), Mervue, Galway
The expanding population of this region of Galway city from the mid 1950s onwards resulted in the division of the original parish of Castlegar into the three parishes of Castlegar, Renmore, and Mervue. The Mervue parish church was built commencing 1966 and was dedicated in 1968. The building is made of reinforced concrete and was designed to include a ground floor for community activities. The church occupies the floor above and is accessed via railed steps and ramps.
