Our Lady, Star of the Sea
Our Lady, Star of the Sea
The statue of Realt na Mara (Our Lady, Star of the Sea) was erected from subscriptions from dockers, others working around Dublin Port, and a range of companies. It was sculpted by Cecil King and unveiled and blessed on 24 September 1972 by Archbishop John Charles McQuaid. The structure comprises a crowned statue of Mary standing on a globe which is on top of a trio of concrete pillars.
