Former engine shed, Orpington Station
Looking across the platforms at the north end of Orpington Station to the former engine shed. Built soon after the formation of the South Eastern and Chatham Railway in 1899, it closed in 1926 following completion of electrification of all routes into London that year. It was then taken over by the Permanent Way Depsrtment, retaining rail access. This was removed in the early 1960s when the building was converted to staff offices, and later, from 2007, to a driver training facility.
