This plaque on the wall adjacent to the tower in the previous photo states 'This Tower was erected And those Guns were placed here By the Revd P.W. Drew. They defended the Town in ancient times ---just hear what the old fellows say - "when Frenchmen landed at Monatray, One of us made them scamper away." '
