SN9208 : Weir on the Afon Mellte

taken 7 years ago, near to Pontneddfechan, Powys, Wales

Weir on the Afon Mellte
Weir on the Afon Mellte
This weir supplied water via a leat to the Pontneddfechan gunpowder works a short distance downstream from this point. Strangely, the leat began on the east side of the river (the far side, in this photograph), before crossing it via an aqueduct, which served also as a tramway bridge, to supply the factory, which was on the west side of the river.
