Furnace Pond
A perfect spot

There has been a settlement in this area for over a thousand years. Its original source of wealth was iron ore. Later the thick clay made it a perfect site for a brickworks. In 1868 those bricks built both the church and school. Nowadays the whole site is part of a nature reserve; and just up the road at the cricket field they still hold an annual feast. Progress- who needs it?
