Crown Mound above Clanrye River
Crown Mound above Clanrye River
This motte and bailey castle, with the largest bailey in Co Down, is sited on a drumlin at a bend rin the Down rye River. There is a school of thought that this was an Irish settlement as distinct from a Norman one.
