A closer look at H2344 : Enniskillen Boer War Memorial.

One of the faces of the obelisk carries the badge of The Inniskilling* Dragoons.

* The town's name is derived from the Irish: Inis Ceithleann. This refers to Cethlenn, a figure in Irish mythology. Local legend has it that Cethlenn was wounded in battle by an arrow and attempted to swim across the River Erne, which surrounds the island, but she never reached the other side so the island (on which Enniskillen is now built) was named in reference to her. It has been anglicised many ways over the centuries, including “Inniskilling” (LinkExternal link Wikipedia).
