Enniskillen War Memorial
Enniskillen War Memorial
The County Fermanagh War memorial is located at the junction of Belmore Street, Queen Elizabeth Road and East Bridge Street near to ‘The Clinton Centre’ at Enniskillen

The memorial takes the form of a 20 feet high monument, surmounted by a bronze figure of a soldier, wearing his war kit standing with rifle reversed and his head bowed in an attitude of reverence.

The memorial is, sadly, remembered for The Remembrance Day bombing (LinkExternal link ) that took place on 8 November 1987, when an IRA bomb exploded during a Remembrance Sunday ceremony, killing eleven and injuring 63 of those attending the service. In 1991, doves were added to the memorial in memory of those killed at that time.
