St Patrick's Cross and Pillar Stone, Carndonagh
The high cross at Carndonagh is also known as the Donagh or St Patrick’s Cross. The date of the cross is unclear, but the interlace patterns indicate that it probably dates from the seventh century. It is one of the earliest Christian crosses outside mainland Europe and is considered to be one of the most important early-Christian remains in all of Britain and Ireland. The main cross is flanked by two, smaller, pillar stones.
