Thatched Cottage at Ballyhillin
Thatched Cottage at Ballyhillin
Just inland from Malin Head, the hamlet of Ballyhillin is the northernmost settlement in Ireland. The hamlet is notable for its cluster of picturesque and some not-so-picturesque (eg see C4059 : Ballyhillin) cottages. Note that there are few openings (windows/doors etc) on the side facing the roadway; this is facing north and when built, the cottages were designed to provide the occupants with shelter, not a view!
