Frampton House near Kirton
A model of Georgian rectitude and elegance, the house was built in 1792 for John Tunnard. No architect is recorded, but whoever was responsible was at least a competent builder confident in his handling of Classical architecture. The central three bays project slightly under a pediment, the carving in which incorporates a shield flanked by leaf swags and surmounted by a rabbit and tulip for the Tunnard family. Its rectangularity suggests that the carving was left incomplete. Grade II* listed.
The house is now a residential home for elderly people. (Photo taken with the kind permission of the owner.)
