Twelve years on and still derelict
Dominated by its tall clock tower, the listed Art Deco style Littlewoods Building was constructed in 1938 as a home for Littlewoods Pools. When war broke out the following year, the Government moved into the building, the postal censorship service printing 17 million National Registration Forms and later producing parts for Halifax, Lancaster and Wellington bombers.
Derelict and decaying since the 1990's, many development ideas have failed but recently there are plans to use the adjacent land as a film and TV studio, it is hoped the old building itself would house the support services for the studio and an educational facility.
