Quarterdeck, Britannia Royal Navy College
The quarterdeck is the main assembly hall of the college. The layout follows that of a ship, the balconies with iron railings being the poop deck. The hall is at right angles to the main facade, behind the central tower. At the end is a full-size 1910 white marble statue of Edward VII.

Britannia Royal Naval College is the main establishment training Naval officers. It was built at Dartmouth in 1905, designed by Sir George Aston Webb. From 1863 the training hulks Britannia and Hindostan were moored on the river; when these wooden ships became unsuitable nearby land was purchased as a base.
