Hen and Chickens Court - the lair of Sweeney Todd
Hen and Chickens Court - the lair of Sweeney Todd
This is Hen and Chickens Court, located behind 185 Fleet Street. It is where Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, would cut the throats of his customers and then, via an underground tunnel, drag their bodies to the nearby Bell Yard where Mrs Lovett once kept her pie shop. People came from all over London as her pies were famous. Little did they realise the meat was supplied by Sweeney Todd. Fortunately Sweeney Todd and Mrs Lovett are Victorian creations of the 1840s - see LinkExternal link For a view of the front of the shop in its setting see Link
