Canal overflow near Baswich in Staffordshire
Canal overflow near Baswich in Staffordshire
This is where an arm led towards the former Stafford Branch Canal (River Sow Navigation) which used to link the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal at Baswich with the town centre of Stafford. A restoration project plans to reconstruct the link "for community benefit". This is called the "River Link".

To the left of the signpost is a remaining part of the roving bridge which carried the towpath across the Sow Navigation arm. Download David Jones's valuable document here: LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link )
