The 2017 Christmas Tree Festival at St Laurence Church, Hawkhurst
There were two Church of England churches in Hawkhurst - St Laurence in the old village at The Moor which is about a mile south of the former Victorian church of All Saints at Highgate which is the modern village grown up along the A268. This is currently abandoned but planning permission has been given to convert it into flats.

St Laurence is entirely Perpendicular in appearance but has much earlier work. It was also restored in the mid-19th century and the windows were renewed in the 1950s. The 2017 Christmas Tree Festival was on for the three days from 1st to 3rd December. This was the last day. The tree here was sponsored by the local Tesco - hence the tiny shopping trolleys.
