The Rivers Sow and Penk east of Stafford
The Rivers Sow and Penk east of Stafford
The River Sow and Penks share a wide flood plain behind the camera.
In this image, the River Sow flows from the left, and the diverted River Penk joins it from the right. Until the 1970s flood control alterations the Penk used to join the Sow about three hundred metres to the east. Its former course is now dry, and it flows north-east along the deepened and widened Deepmoor Drain.
