Viewed from Rhiwfron Station on the Vale of Rheidol Railway. The now defunct filter beds can just be seen in the centre of the view beside Afon Rheidol. The intention was that heavy metals in water running from Cwm Rheidol mine would settle out in the beds. It proved to be unsuccessful and an alternative methods is now used. Meanwhile, the filter beds remain a danger and an eyesore in this otherwise picturesque location.
