This is Ellerman Lines a rebuilt Merchant Navy class originally designed by O V S Bulleid of the Southern Railway. Built 1949 and rebuilt in 1959. The original Bulleid Pacifics had air-smoothed casings that led to them being referred to as 'spam cans' and chain driven valve gear with oil baths enclosing the chain drives. The other side of this locomotive is sectioned to display the workings.
