A coal boat at Bangor
A coal boat at Bangor
See J5082 : The "Silver River" at Bangor. Another frequent caller, with cargoes of coal for a local merchant, was the Saint Brandan owned by Gardners of Glasgow. At 63 metres she is bigger than any vessel using the harbour today. She was unusual in that, as well as taking conventional cargoes in her hold, she could load a deck cargo via the ramp on her bow.
Ships, Bangor (Co Down) harbour

A small collection of photographs showing some of the ships which visited Bangor harbour to load or discharge cargoes. Now closed to commercial shipping, it still handles fishing boats, mussel dredgers, pleasure craft, fishery protection and research vessels and, from time to time, boats engaged in civil engineering work.
