Golden Gates, Elvaston Castle
Golden Gates, Elvaston Castle
The gates in the centre of the structure Link . They date from the 18th century and reputedly they belonged to Napoleon and were originally sited in Paris. They were erected here in c.1850, but which parts are original is unclear. The overthrow carries the monogram of the Earls of Harrington and their motto, so is clearly later. Listed Grade II.
