The plaque in Dukinfield Old Chapel reads:

IN
AFFECTIONATE REMEMBRANCE OF
WILLIAM ELLISON,
DIED DECEMBER 12TH 1938,
IN HIS 68TH YEAR.
A LOVING COMPANION AND A FAITHFUL FRIEND.
Old Chapel, Dukinfield

The first Unitarian Chapel, built here in 1707, was irreparably damaged by a storm in 1839. Stones from the old chapel were used as the foundations for the present building which was opened on 26th August 1840. It is Grade II* listed LinkExternal link
