J3373 : Linenhall Street, Belfast
taken 17 years ago, near to Belfast, Co Antrim, Northern Ireland
There is a small vacant site (the result, I think, of a bomb in the 1970’s) at the eastern corner of Linenhall Street and Ormeau Avenue. It sits beside the former Murphy and Stevenson factory J3373 : Linenhall Street, Belfast and has been used as a private car park for many years. It, and the ground at the back, is now the subject of an application for planning permission “0471/F 40 Linenhall Street and corner site between 40 Linenhall Street and 19 Ormeau Avenue, Belfast Office development comprising 2 additional storeys (at 4m set back) and 2 additional storeys (at 8m set back) above existing no. 40 Linenhall Street and associated 10 storey extension to rear with glazed atrium together with 11 storey development of vacant corner site”.
The site now (April 2015) has planning permission for two additional storeys (set back), one additional storey (also set back) above the existing building, a six storey rear extension with glazed atrium and a nine storey office building on adjacent vacant land at the corner of Linenhall Street and Ormeau Avenue.
