This isn't turf as in lawn-laid sods, it's turf for the open fire

You can see that it has been extruded from a pipe, the traditional way would have been to cut individual pieces of turf with a turf spade H5758 : My grandad's "Oul turf spade", Errigle

Several years ago I pictured a family at Kilmore stooking turf to enable it to dry out in the wind before being brought back to the turf shed H3975 : "Stooking" turf, Kilmore
