Detail from the statue of Annie Moore and her two brothers (W7966 : Annie Moore Monument) on the quayside outside Cobh Heritage Centre.

Annie Moore (LinkExternal link ) was the first immigrant to the United States to pass through the federal immigrant inspection facility at the Ellis Island station in New York Harbour. Aged 17 at the time, she departed from Cobh, County Cork, accompanied by her brothers Phillip (12) and Anthony (15), aboard the steamship SS Nevada in 1892 to join their parents, Matthew and Julia, who had emigrated to the United States in 1888.

The statue of Annie Moore and her two brothers, sculpted by Jeanne Rhynhart, is located on the quayside outside Cobh Heritage Centre. A similar statue of Annie can be found in Ellis Island, New York.
