The Royal Arcade
The Royal Arcade
The Royal Arcade was opened on May 24 1899 as the city's new, prestigious, purpose-built shopping arcade. It was designed by the Norwich architect George Skipper, who was responsible for the designs of the city’s most notable commercial buildings as well as hotels, country residences and public buildings throughout East Anglia, Somerset and London. His work is generally held by authorities on Victorian and Edwardian architecture to have been of national importance.
